More then 25 years serving you and your animals
Dr. Bob Jones BA D.V.M.After graduating from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1973, I accepted an internship at Purdue University (Indiana, USA) in equine medicine and surgery. From there, I completed a residency in Equine Orthopedic Surgery at the Ohio State University. While at Ohio State I developed the use of massive bone allografts (bone from another horse) in the repair of major bone defects in horses (i.e. fractures, tumors etc...). In 1976, I was recruited on faculty at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, to help start the first new veterinary school in the USA in 21 years. While there along with a large clinical caseload, I was responsible for teaching lameness in horses and continuing education seminars throughout the USA. While at U of Tennessee, we continue to advance the use of large bone grafts to include partial joint replacement in horses.
IN 1981, the 'call of the north' brought me back to Canada. After two years of racetrack practice, I joined my wife Dr. Denice Schlingman in her practice, Uncas Veterinary Clinic. My areas of special interest in the practice include, all facets of equine medicine, of surgery, reproduction, lameness, orthopedic surgery in all species including zoo, wildlife and farmed exotics. |

Dr. Denice Schlingman BSc D.V.M.I graduated from Washington State University in 1980. After graduation, I went to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, to do a large animal internship. There I met my husband Dr. Robert Jones. We opened Uncas Veterinary Clinic in 1983, as an all species practice. I have a special interest in all species. Dr. Jones does the fracture repair, while I do the cruciates and other orthopedic work. Reproductive work on dogs and alpacas keeps me busy. I gained an interest in camilids in 1980, when I had exposure to the then largest llama ranch in the USA. They are very interesting animals and I continue to learn and try to improve my veterinary skills on them. Exotics and wildlife are a special love, which led to contracts work with the Edmonton Valley Zoo and Elk Island National Park. Strathcona Raptor center also brings in a steady supply of injured birds of Prey. |
