Dr. Bob Jones
Bob Jones BA, D.V.M.
After graduating from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1973, I accepted an internship at Purdue University (Indiana, USA) in equine medicine and surgery. From there, I completed a residency in Equine Orthopedic Surgery at the Ohio State University. While at Ohio State I developed the use of massive bone allografts (bone from another horse) in the repair of major bone defects in horses (i.e. fractures, tumors etc...). In 1976, I was recruited on faculty at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, to help start the first new veterinary school in the USA in 21 years. While there along with a large clinical caseload, I was responsible for teaching lameness in horses and continuing education seminars throughout the USA. While at U of Tennessee, we continue to advance the use of large bone grafts to include partial joint replacement in horses.
IN 1981, the 'call of the north' brought me back to Canada. After two years of racetrack practice, I joined my wife Dr. Denice Schlingman in her practice, Uncas Veterinary Clinic.
My areas of special interest in the practice include, all facets of equine medicine, of surgery, reproduction, lameness, orthopedic surgery in all species including zoo, wildlife and farmed exotics.
